Kyle must choose between following his dreams as a musician or his heart as a father when tragedy strikes and his estranged girlfriend dies leaving their young daughter Teigan in the temporary custody of her grandfather Bill. Already a widower and now destroyed by the loss of his daughter, Bill is determined to keep the only family he has left. As Kyle struggles to forge a new identity as the Dad he doubts he can be, he finds a small support group in Scott, the local pastor, and Claire, the social worker assigned to Teigan's custody case. The harsh realities of Kyle's music career aspirations, as well as Bill's health and financial problems further complicate the already strained relationship between the men as the threat of loosing Teigan compels them both to find the courage to forgive.
